David Lammy dismisses ‘two-tier policing’ claim by Trump administration

  • The US State Department's comments followed the murder of Henry Nowak, who was fatally stabbed and then handcuffed by Hampshire police officers who dismissed his pleas for help after his killer falsely claimed a racist attack.
  • The Liberal Democrats have urged Sir Keir Starmer to summon the US ambassador, condemning the US administration 's intervention as "flagrant foreign interference" and accusing them of using the tragic murder as a "political football."
  • Billionaire Elon Musk also drew criticism from Sir Keir Starmer and David Lammy for repeatedly posting about the case and offering to fund a private prosecution of Hampshire Constabulary, with Lammy advising him to "stay out of this complex but painful situation."
  • Nigel Farage faced widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum for a video calling for "pure, cold rage" in response to the murder, which preceded violent protests outside Southampton police station where 11 officers and a dog were injured.
