Cassie Ventura has left the United States and has no plans to return, court documents reveal. The singer, who testified against Sean “Diddy” Combs in his sex crimes trial last summer, filed a motion last month to move a related lawsuit from California to New York, stating she now lives abroad. The documents, obtained by Fox News, show Cassie arguing that New York is a more appropriate venue for the lawsuit filed by former male escort Clayton Howard.

Howard’s lawsuit, which names Cassie among others, accuses Diddy and her of “sexual exploitation, trafficking, and abuse” over a decade. Cassie’s legal team pointed out that many of the relevant facts occurred in New York City, where over two dozen similar cases against Diddy are already pending. They also noted that the corporate defendants are incorporated in New York, making it a more logical location for the case.
In a separate filing, Cassie declared, “I am a citizen of the United States,” before clarifying, “I am not a resident of the State of California. I reside outside of the United States. I do not intend to move back to the United States.” She added that traveling to New York, where her lawyers are based, would be significantly more convenient than appearing in California courts. Her representatives have not commented on the filings.
Cassie’s move comes nearly a year after her emotional testimony in Diddy’s trial
The Me & U singer took the stand for four days in May 2025, detailing the alleged abuse she endured during her on-again, off-again relationship with the rapper from 2007 to 2018. She testified that Diddy raped her in 2018 after she attempted to end their relationship for good.
Cassie also described being physically abused and coerced into participating in “freak offs,” where Diddy would force her to have sex with male escorts while he watched. She revealed that she entered rehab and began trauma therapy in early 2023 after experiencing “horrible flashbacks” on the set of a music video.

Two weeks after her testimony, Cassie gave birth to her third child with husband Alex Fine. The couple, who married in 2019, also has two daughters, Frankie and Sunny. Fine, Diddy’s former personal trainer, has been a steadfast source of support for Cassie throughout the legal battle and its aftermath. A source close to Cassie told Us Weekly that Fine has been “the best partner for her” and “extremely supportive through it all.”
Diddy’s trial concluded in July 2025 when a jury found him not guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking but convicted him on two lesser counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was sentenced to more than four years in prison and is currently serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix. He has been behind bars since his arrest in September 2024 and is scheduled for release in February 2028. His legal team has attempted to appeal the conviction.
For Cassie, the trial was a grueling experience
She told the court, “I don’t hate him. I have love for the past, and what it was.” Despite the emotional toll, a source close to her said she is “glad that chapter is behind her.” However, the source added that Cassie still grapples with “anxious feelings” knowing Diddy will eventually be released.
“She has to work through those emotions every day,” the insider said. “What she went through was so traumatic, and she is still continuously getting therapy and living with the trauma. It is something she has to work on every day.”
Cassie’s life has taken a quieter turn since. The source described her as living a “very normal life now,” focused on her family, routines, and being present. “That’s been really grounding and healing for her,” the insider said. Cassie’s priority is now her children, particularly her daughters. “She wants to be a strong, healthy example for them and show them what it looks like to choose yourself, set boundaries and move forward even after really difficult experiences,” the source added.

Her decision to move abroad aligns with this new chapter
While the exact location of her residence hasn’t been disclosed, the court documents make it clear she’s embracing a fresh start far from the U.S. legal system and the public eye. The move also distances her from the ongoing legal battles tied to Diddy, including the lawsuit from Howard, who accused her last year of aborting his child and giving him an STD – allegations she has denied.
The surveillance footage from a 2016 incident at the InterContinental Hotel, where Diddy was seen dragging Cassie down a hallway, remains one of the most disturbing pieces of evidence from the trial. Cassie testified that the incident occurred after a “freak off” turned violent, leaving her with a black eye.
She had been attempting to leave when Diddy assaulted her. The footage, shown to the jury and released to the public in 2024, became a pivotal moment in the case. Cassie has since reached a $10 million settlement with the InterContinental Hotel over the assault.
