Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Fight result and reaction as American wins chaotic brawl with retiring Brit

Deontay Wilder denied Derek Chisora a winning farewell to boxing as the “Bronze Bomber” won by split decision after the heavyweight icons put on a slugfest for the ages.

In the final fight in Chisora’s storied, up-and-down career, “Delboy” threw the kitchen sink at Wilder, with the Briton’s coach even storming into the ring to separate the pair in the very first round.

Chisora, 42, brought the rabid London crowd to a fever pitch as he unloaded on Wilder but, as he began to tire, Wilder at long last scored the first knockdown of the fight in round eight – only to have a point taken off moments later.

The fight reached its crescendo as Chisora came back with a knockdown of his own in a late flurry, but he was dropped again in the same round. That said, it seems that both knockdowns might have been overturned for trips and pushes. Ultimately, 40-year-old Wilder edged the contest on points to secure a second straight win.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: What ‘Delboy’ once told me about retirement

03:00 , Alex Pattle

I first spoke to Chisora in the summer of 2022, and even then, retirement was a topic of conversation. That says a lot about how long he’s stuck around in boxing.

Here’s what he told me at the time: “Na, na. Nope. Don’t wanna think about that.

“Sad stories. Na. Thinking about it...

“If my wife leaves me today, what am I gonna do? Am I gonna find another one? For now, no,” he says in one of his trademark metaphors. It is one of the less crass ones.

“I love boxing, that’s it. Point blank, I enjoy it so much. I love everything about it: the training, the fighting, the promotion.”

Derek Chisora put on a slugfest for the ages – he’s answered his retirement question

02:48 , Will Castle

Will Castle’s thoughts on tonight’s main event:

“I’m sorry, I love you.” Those were the words offered by Shawn Michaels before he Sweet Chin Music’d pro wrestling icon Ric Flair into what should’ve been a perfect retirement at WrestleMania 24. Deontay Wilder, 18 years on, tried to give Derek Chisora the same poetic sendoff - repeating those exact words - in a slugfest for the ages. Unlike Flair, who at the tender age of 59 backtracked on his retirement and continued to painstakingly wrestle into his 70s, Chisora should accept this 50th fight for what it is: his rightful finale.

It wasn’t the fairytale ending, with Wilder edging out victory by split decision after 12 rounds of spine-tingling, back-and-forth brawling. But Chisora, now on 14 losses, isn’t the fairytale type. He’s a loveable brute with a maniacal smile and, after an up-and-down career, victory on this night didn’t feel imperative for “Delboy” to deliver. Chaos was all his adoring fans asked for, and that’s what they got.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: What next for ‘Delboy’?

02:00 , Alex Pattle

RETIREMENT, PLEASE.

Chisora was coy in the ring, after the fight, when first asked about retiring...

But with his family around him, he seemed to give in to the idea moments later.

He has taken far too much punishment to carry on; there is no need.

He has made his money, he has secured his status as a fan favourite, and he will never win that elusive world title at this point.

Thank you for everything, Delboy. And goodbye, hopefully (in the nicest way).

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: What next for ‘Bronze Bomber’?

01:00 , Alex Pattle

That was obviously a very sloppy performance from both men, but there are genuine positives for Wilder.

He was much less gun-shy than in his recent fights, and he was physically resilient as well.

I’ve always craved the Anthony Joshua fight for Wilder, and I think it would still guarantee fireworks at this stage in their careers.

But Joshua seems to be veering towards a warm-up fight then the long-awaited Tyson Fury clash.

Where does that leave Wilder?

Honestly, he’s not deserving of a world-title fight, but a bout with the loser of Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois (9 May) is appetising...

Sunday 5 April 2026 00:29 , Alex Pattle

Although there were two separate counts in the 11th round – one for Chisora, one for Wilder – we felt at the time that each incident was a push/trip.

And we believe that the knockdowns were indeed overturned.

Right, let’s gain our composure. The scorecards are in...

Deontay Wilder def. Derek Chisora via split decision (115-111, 112-115, 115-113)

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Frenzied finish!

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:44 , Alex Pattle

Round 12

It’s a frenzied finish, with both men seeking a KO.

“Ohhh, Derek Chisora!” rings around the O2... for almost the final time, surely.

The heavyweights brawl against the ropes; can either man get free and score the decisive shot?

Chisora barely misses with an overhand right as he steps off to his left.

Ten seconds left, he lands a left hook, but it’s not enough!

HOW will this one be scored?!?!?

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: BOTH MEN DOWN!

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:40 , Alex Pattle

Round 11

Two rounds to go. I won’t pretend I’ve been scoring this fight, amid the chaos. Some rounds have been finely balanced, and even that eighth frame – in which Wilder scored a knockdown – was only a 9-8 with the American’s point deduction.

The rounds themselves have felt back and forth, and maybe that’s a fair comment on the fight itself, too.

Nasty counter right cross by Wilder in the corner. “Get back on the jab, GET BACK ON THE JAB!” is the message from Chisora’s corner. He eats a right hook but lands a few hooks of his own.

Oh, Chisora goes through the ropes again, but is it a kncokdown or a trip?! There’s a count, but Chisora complains!

Now Wilder GOES DOWN! There’s another count! But it looked like he was tripped as he was punched.

He beats this count and complains, too! This is wild.

Chisora throws and lands a big shot after the bell. He should be docked a point. He isn’t.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Better from British veteran

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:36 , Alex Pattle

Round 10

Well, the two of us at the O2 predicted a stoppage win for Delboy in round seven and eight, respectively. We were wrong!

This is great, though.

A very laboured entry by Chisora, but he picks up the pace with a trio of hooks: body, body, head – not for the first time tonight.

Big overhand by Chisora, but again Wilder laughs it off! Former world champ Tony Bellew is frustrated with Chisora at ringside.

Good, clubbing right hooks from the British veteran at close range, though. More body work in the closing seconds, too.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Delboy recovering?

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:32 , Alex Pattle

Round nine

Has Wilder punched himself out? He still looks fairly good, while Chisora looks tired – as ever – but still game somehow.

Chisora barely misses with an overhand right.

He marches forward and lands a left hook to the body, but he’s tagged with counters upstairs for his trouble.

Nice check hook by Wilder, who then grapples Chisora late in the frame.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: WILDER DROPS CHISORA BUT LOSES POINT

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:28 , Alex Pattle

Round eight

There’s a stern warning to both fighters from the referee, to start this round.

Chisora marches onto a counter right cross but lands a few good hooks. “Back of the head, ref,” Wilder tells the ref.

MASSIVE OVERHAND BY CHISORA! Shot of the fight so far, but he eats TWO CLEAN CROSSES BY WILDER!

Chisora backs off, somehow still swinging, but he doesn’t look right... Wilder is going for the KO here, can Chisora survive??

WILDER PUNCHES HIM THROUGH THE ROPES!! OH!

Does Chisora know where he is? Yes, he beats the ref’s count!

Wilder marches forward with a snarl... He says, “I love you,” then throws a cross!

There are a few more punches, then the ref pulls away Wilder and docks a point... We’re not sure what for... Maybe a punch on a downed Chisora?

It’s a brawl late in the round, and the crowd is on ITS FEET!

WHAT A FIGHT. WHAT. A. FIGHT.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Heavyweights crash to the mat together

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:23 , Alex Pattle

Round seven

Into the second half of this fight. Chisora blocks a pawing left hook then lands an overhand, but it doesn’t have too much juice in it.

Two hooks to the body of Wilder, then a hook upstairs. Wilder laughs them off.

Good uppercut from the American yet again, but he misses with his follow-up right hands. Chisora backs up Wilder against the ropes and thuds a pair of shots to the body.

Mean output from Chisora in the clinch now. Decent left hook by Wilder, before the pair crash to the canvas in another chaotic moment.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: War of attrition

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:19 , Alex Pattle

Round six

Wilder is throwing more now – hooks and straights as Chisora bears down on him. Jabs from Wilder, too, but he eats one as well.

Now WILD swings at close range by the American, who is missing with every one but certainly looks threatening anyway!

Good counter cross by Wilder, who then misses an uppercut. Big overhand miss by Chisora, who wears on Wilder in the corner.

Chisora is blinking hard with that right eye. Sweat in there, or blood?

Wilder laughs off an entrance from Chisora then lands a good counter cross, before the British veteran lands himself.

Nice uppercut by Wilder late in the round. Then a one-two JUST as the bell sounds.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Trips and throws

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:15 , Alex Pattle

Round five

Spearing jab from Chisora, and the crowd is at a fever pitch for a few seconds! He corners Wilder but can’t trap him there...

Wilder wrestles Chisora in another corner, and the Brit tumbles to the deck. He’s soon back up, though.

He looks knackered, but he so often does and finds a way through...

Grazing right overhand by Chisora, but he smothers his work. Another big overhand now, then a hook, then an overhand that BARELY misses.

Wilder’s output has waned drastically.

Again Chisora hits the canvas, seemingly from a trip, and the ref warns Wilder.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Delboy turns the tide!

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:11 , Alex Pattle

Round four

Wilder with some jabs while going backwards, but he hits the deck...

Just a slip or a throw, though! No count from the ref, and Wilder shrugs it off.

Wilder misses with one counter cross but lands his next, but Chisora lands a huge right of his own, then a hook!

Wilder says it was behind the head, but that’s because he turned.

OH! Great end to the round by Chisora, who starts to pummel Wilder! Big hooks to the head and body of the American...

Wilder holds him and survives to the bell...

(Getty Images)

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Wilder looking dangerous...

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:07 , Alex Pattle

Round three

Grazing uppercut by Wilder as Chisora plods forward. “Stop boxing, stop boxing!” is the cry from the ref, not for the first time tonight, as the pair tie up.

In the next clinch, the ref lets them work, before physically pulling Wilder off the Briton.

Chisora is marching forward, stooping and almost switching stances – or at least moving in a kind of in-between stance.

Wilder with success in the corner now, as Chisora bends down and looks to be in danger of going over...

A slow right hook effort from Chisora, a faster reply from Wilder which also misses. Now a huge right from Wilder almost turns Chisora around!! Wow...

Chisora grabs ahold of Wilder and must be careful late in the round. Chisora looks at the ref and motions to his own right eye, but there’s no reprieve: Wilder SMACKS him with two harsh shots in the final seconds!

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Chaos continues in round two

Saturday 4 April 2026 23:02 , Alex Pattle

Round two

This is absolute chaos!! Chisora continues to bear down on Wilder as expected, landing a few hooks, but it’s Wilder who lands the heavier shots in the corner!

Is Chisora in trouble?? He just ate at least two flush hooks there.

But the Brit comes back with a big counter right! This is exactly what we expected, exactly what fans wanted.

There’s a warning to Wilder for a punch or two behind the head of Chisora.

After a while, Chisora stumbles to his knees after a bit of a throw from Wilder, who is stronger than he looks.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Coach enters ring in wild start!

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:59 , Alex Pattle

Round one

Chisora promised he’d go for a first-round KO, and he gets right after Wilder, stooping low and swinging over the top.

He then bullies Wilder, who is 40lb lighter, against the ropes. Chisora was always going to do this in phases tonight.

They soon separate, and Chisora lands a few clubbing blows, but also walks past the outstretched jab hand of Wilder and onto a couple of counter rights.

More wrestling on the ropes, with Wilder actually getting the better of the tussle for now. Back in the open, Wilder misses with a wild left hook.

Both men land rabbit punches in the clinch, and they nearly topple over the top rope!!

The ref separates them, with help from one of Chisora’s coaches, who should NOT be running into the ring! What a wild first round, wild...

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: ‘Hotel California’ for Delboy

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:50 , Alex Pattle

One of Chisora’s old favourites plays on the speakers: The Eagles’ “Hotel California”.

It never gets old, but Chisora himself has finally grown old in this sport.

He emerges in a cowboy hat and his trademark Union Jack bandana, to immense cheers.

He conducts the fans in a singalong, but some are intent on “ohh, Derek Chisora” still!

He’s in the ring. Goosebumps.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Boos for Wilder!

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:45 , Alex Pattle

Wilder walks out to a strangely-serene tune, but with fans serenading him with boos at the O2 Arena!

Then the home faithful hit him with chants of “ohhh, Derek Chisora!”

He’s walking into the lion’s den, is Wilder. His first fight on UK soil in 13 years. In 2013, he stopped Audley Harrison in Sheffield.

He gets a few fist bumps from the fans in the front row as he walks down the ramp, at least.

Now he’s prowling around the ring, as we await Chisora for ONE LAST TIME.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Last-minute predictions

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:41 , Alex Pattle

Okay, thoughts from ringside: I’m going to back Chisora, who I think may find a stoppage in the eighth round.

If Wilder can turn back the clock and is not as gun-shy as he’s been in recent years, he really could get Chisora out of there – and his KO of Robert Helenius a few years ago showed that, even on the back foot when not loading up, he has natural power on the counter. Delboy could walk onto a shot like that.

But it’s Chisora’s very ability to walk through shots right until the final bell that makes me believe he will wear down a faded version of Wilder.

My colleague Will Castle, next to me, has this to say:

“With Wilder’s powers having significantly waned, I can’t see the “Bronze Bomber” doing what he needs to in the early rounds, putting the ball firmly in Chisora’s court in the later rounds.

“I’m going for a Chisora knockout in the seventh. Whether Delboy actually retires after that is anyone’s guess.”

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:20 , Will Castle

Round 12

This has been close enough to punch-perfect from Riley against a man who was meant to act as a step up in opposition. He has one more round to get through.

But it’s here that the Brit appears to experience his first real bit of adversity! He is caught at close range by Masternak and appears to stumble out of it - was he rocked or was that just a trip?

Either way, Masternak’s corner are going crazy. They’re sensing an opportunity.

Both throw down, Masternak searching for the last-gasp finish while Riley tries to counter derail any momentum he might be gaining.

Riley manages to get to the bell! We go to the scorecards...

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: More of the same

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:15 , Will Castle

Round 11

Masternak is about as red as the padding in his corner. He’s exhibited his strong chin tonight but he’s (so far) been roundly outfought by Riley.

Riley has slowed a bit but is still very much on top going into the final round. It’ll take a Hail Mary stoppage for Masternak to turn this around.

Elsewhere in the UK tonight: And still!

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:12 , Alex Pattle

In Cardiff, Wales’ own Lauren Price has just secured a unanimous decision against Stephanie Pineiro, retaining her unified welterweight belts in the process.

The scorecards were wide (98-92, 99-91, 98-92), but Price was bloodied in that main-event contest.

Will there be another big British victory in Riley vs Masternak? And/or in Chisora vs Wilder?

Round 10

The big attacks have lessened in frequency from Riley but he’s doing a fine job at staying on the front foot and thwarting any attempt from Masternak to gain momentum.

His defence has been strong, even when it looks like his opponent might be about to catch him in close quarters.

Like most rounds, Riley does enjoy a flurry at the end of the round with a big overhand swung and missing.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Riley leaves it late to pounce

Saturday 4 April 2026 22:07 , Will Castle

Round nine

A less action-packed round as Riley opts to mostly dance around his opponent while clipping with the odd jab.

That’s until with 12 seconds to go, Riley gets Masternak into the corner again and rains down more offence. “Go, go, go!” is yelled from Riley’s corner, urging him to push for a finish. Not in this round.

Round eight

Riley returns to the body to send a shot echoing around the O2, sending Masternak stumbling back into the centre of the ring.

Then comes another big jab from Riley before Masternak mostly blocks a sharp one-two. This is very much all Riley, who ends the round with another couple combos in the corner.

The crowd weren’t completely focused on the in-ring action this round. “Oh when the Saints, go marching in!” rings around the arena as news filters to fans that Southampton have just knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup! Riley, a die-hard Spurs fan, will take kindly to that news.

Round seven

Riley is looking to feast, finding more and more success with the combinations as he gets Masternak covering up in the corner again.

The Pole is trying to respond with some big shots of his own but he looks tired; Riley is seeing the attacks come from a mile away and isn’t finding much trouble dodging them.

Masternak’s corner is screaming at him - in Polish, mind, so not sure of the specific instructions - as Riley closes in on him again towards the end of the round. He survives but looks pretty battered.

Round six

Masternak is eating jab after jab from Riley, who as we approach the halfway point hasn’t shown many signs of slowing down.

He’s clipped by a left hook on the approach but responds by connecting with a lovely three-piece combo, showering Masternak’s sweat onto the ringside commentary team.

Masternak is landing the odd counter-shot but Riley remains in the driving seat.

If there were any fears that the tide might have been turning against Riley after the last round, those were allayed has he firmly regained the front foot.

Round four

Signs that Masternak is growing into this after three punishing rounds, with Riley diving into a couple of stiff punches. Perhaps a bit overzealous in the search of a finish.

Round three

More tentative start to the third but after a minute of mostly feints, Riley looks to go up the gears again.

He lands a couple of nice jabs before a huge uppercut goes amiss. So back he goes to the body shots, sending Masternak into the ropes.

Riley then CLOCKS Masternak with a right to send his sweat spraying towards us in the press and sensing a moment of weakness, he tries to rain in punches in the corner.

Masternak blocks the attack well enough and survives the round.

Round two

Riley looking comfortable and is dancing around Masternak as he looks to chip away at the Pole.

He forces Masternak to the ropes with another heavy body shot - he’s found success with that so far - before rocking his opponent with a sharp left. That got a reaction from the crowd.

A few more big body blows and Masternak is turning red, coming out in big welts. The veteran is on the back foot.

Riley doing well to clip his opposite number with jabs early on, utilising his speed advantage. He fakes a couple lefts and lands two stiff rights to the body.

The Tottenham-bred bruiser keeps up the intensity and catches Masternak with a delightful combo in close quarters to close out the round. Strong start from Riley.

Saavedra closes range and lets his hands go to the body, but he carries on after a warning from the referee. The action is paused, and Bentley is warned as well. It might relate to punches behind the head in the clinch.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Bentley vs Saavedra

Saturday 4 April 2026 20:38 , Alex Pattle

Round one

Both men stand orthodox, with Saavedra taking the centre of the ring early.

Saavedra leans on Bentley in the corner, but the Briton gets some short punches off in response.

Back in the open, Saavedra continues to come forward, with Bentley looking for counters. Saavedra’s guard is meeting most of them so far.

Now Saavedra lets his hands go with a combination, before landing a pair of well-timed left hooks late in the round – while avoiding the best of Bentley’s counter punches.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Harris scores brutal KO of Ignatius

Saturday 4 April 2026 20:13 , Alex Pattle

Round two

A precursor of tonight’s main event, in this heavyweight appetiser?

Matty Harris brutally takes out Franklin Ignatius with a short, crisp right cross!

Ignatius’s eyes are wide but totally vacant as the ref counts... before waving this one off.

Thankfully, Ignatius is soon up and sat on a stool, with Harris showing some sportsmanship to check on his beaten foe.

Now Ignatius is up and receiving a hug from the victorious Harris. Good to see.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Anderson stops Dujon!

Saturday 4 April 2026 19:51 , Alex Pattle

Round eight

Big right cross from Anderson, who eats a counter left hook and sticks his tongue out at Dujon.

A rear uppercut lands for Anderson, who takes another left hook like it’s nothing.

Anderson proceeds to pour on punches with Dujon passive in the corner, and the underdog’s left eye is badly swollen at this point...

The ref steps in! He hugs and consoles Dujon, who gives the official a nod of acceptance.

The right call. Dujon was game, but he wasn’t going to win this fight and was absorbing more and more damage by the round.

Chisora vs Wilder LIVE: Welcome!

Saturday 4 April 2026 18:00 , Alex Pattle

Tonight, heavyweight icons Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder will clash in front of a baying London crowd.

This will be the final fight in Chisora’s storied, up-and-down career; at least the Briton (36-13, 23 KOs) claims it will be, though retirement has long seemed a daunting prospect to the 42-year-old. Across the ring at the O2 Arena, Wilder’s own career may be on the line, even if the ex-world champion suggests he will carry on regardless of the result.

The American, 40, enters this fight on a 2-4 run after his long, dominant title reign, and has appeared reluctant to use his generational power in recent bouts. But Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) will need it against Chisora, given the latter’s trademark resilience and engine.

The fight is set to go ahead despite late drama, with Wilder complaining about his gloves on Friday before the issue was resolved.
