Celtic-linked defender opens up on footballing 'dreams' amid growing interest

Reported Celtic target Oskar Wojcik has opened up on his future amid growing transfer interest, and made it clear he will not move without guarantees over game time.

The Scottish champions are understood to have tracked the KS Cracovia centre-back closely, with reports in Poland suggesting a £3.5million bid was knocked back in January as his club holds out for closer to £4.2m.

The 22-year-old defender is attracting attention from across Europe, with Serie A sides Bologna and Fiorentina, as well as Coventry City, also credited with interest. His stock continues to rise after earning his first senior Poland cap in the recent defeat to Ukraine.

But Wojcik has now issued a clear message to suitors — he will not sacrifice his development for a move.

He said: “Simply put, if an offer comes along with an interesting plan, a vision for development, we’ll consider it.” [TVPSPORT.PL]

“It’s not like I hear a name, the first club that comes along, and I already want to leave Poland.

“All of this needs to be thoroughly analysed. The most important thing is that I don’t want to join a club just to be there. I want to play and become a better player.”

Despite the growing speculation, the Cracovia star admits he remains emotionally tied to his current club. He added: “My heart definitely tells me to stay at Cracovia, because it’s my club, which has great and supportive fans. I never imagined I could get so much from the fans.

“On the other hand… there are dreams. I’ve always imagined playing in one of the five best leagues in Europe.”

Wojcik featured heavily last season, making 33 appearances and clocking over 2,900 minutes as Cracovia finished 13th in the Polish top flight.
