Burglar tracked down by neon t-shirt while eating fish and chips in Kent

Police were able to track down a wanted burglar, after his neon t-shirt was identified by officers in a chip shop.

The thief stole four watches, a diamond ring and a quantity of foreign currency during a burglary at a home in Southborough, Kent on 13 December 2025.

A dog handler managed to track the criminal down "thanks to his neon-coloured T-shirt" which he had been seen fleeing the scene in, Kent Police said, and he was arrested. He was eating a portion of fish and chips while waiting for staff members to charge his phone behind the counter.

James Wall, 20, of Beverston Gardens, Bristol, pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment on Wednesday (25 March).
