- Ayrton Redfearn, a 23-year-old British man from Devon , was killed in action in Ukraine 's Donetsk region on 9 May.
- His mother, Natasha, confirmed his death, stating her worst fear came true when police informed her on 11 May.
- Mr Redfearn had joined a specialist unit supporting the Ukrainian army in 2025, having previously been a Torquay Air Cadet and serving in the RAF.
- Natasha expressed gratitude for the tributes and support, highlighting her son's strength, bravery, and courage.
- The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is supporting Mr Redfearn's family and reiterates its warning to British nationals about the high risks of fighting in Ukraine , including death, capture, or maltreatment.
