BBC confirm release date for long-lost Doctor Who episodes

  • Two long-lost episodes of the classic 1960s science fiction series Doctor Who, titled "The Nightmare Begins" and "Devil’s Planet," are scheduled for release.
  • These rediscovered instalments, previously believed to be missing from archives, will be available for streaming on BBC iPlayer from Good Friday, 3rd April, at 6am.
  • The episodes form part of the third series' epic storyline, "The Daleks’ Master Plan," featuring William Hartnell as the first Doctor and written by Terry Nation.
  • The discovery was made by Film Is Fabulous! (FIF), a Leicester-based charitable trust, which then collaborated with BBC Archives for meticulous restoration to broadcast quality.
  • The release offers fans a rare glimpse into the show's early history, also featuring actors such as Peter Purves, Nicholas Courtney, Adrienne Hill, and Kevin Stoney.
