Arrests after more than $100,000 in equipment allegedly stolen from Hunter property

Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 in equipment from a property in the Hunter Valley.

Police began an investigation after reports of a break-in at a property on Pembroke Road at Cassilis.

Officers heard that more than $100,000 worth of equipment was allegedly taken, including two Honda quad bikes, fuel, power tools, cattle tags and drench.

A quad bike and box trailer were later seized by police on Aly Street, Kayuga.

On Tuesday May 19, police arrested a 27-year-old man at Muswellbrook police station.

He was charged with disposing of a stolen motor vehicle part and and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of a crime.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Muswellbrook Local Court on Tuesday, July 14.

Police searched homes in Muswellbrook and Aberdeen between 7.30am and 8.30am on Thursday May 21 and allegedly found power tools, trail cams, electronic devices, copper cabling, mobile phones and farming equipment, which they believed to be stolen.

Following those searches they arrested a 46-year-old man.

He was taken to Muswellbrook police station, where he was charged with four offences including knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, disposing of a stolen motor vehicle part, failing to provide adequate exercise to a confined animal, and being a passenger who failed to disclose the driver's identity.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday July 22.
