A mystery vandal has turned Hammersmith & Fulham into an open-air confessional, after scrawling the phrase “I farted in yoga” on the side of a building site.
The graffiti artist, dressed in shorts and a white T-shirt, can be seen casually delivering the announcement—complete with a backwards ‘E’ for added artistic intent—onto the hoardings in Shepherd’s Bush.
Footage shared by Hammersmith & Fulham Council shows the moment a group of teenagers walk past before stopping to watch and laugh.
After finishing his piece, the man is seen smoking a cigarette before walking off.
Now, council officers have issued an appeal to anyone who might know the tagger to come forward.
A spokesperson for Hammersmith & Fulham Council wrote on Instagram: “Do you recognise this man? He vandalised hoardings in Uxbridge Road - Shepherds Bush - on Saturday 2 May 2026.
“If so, please contact @crimestopperstrust anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or via their website.
“H&F Council officers have removed the graffiti.”
Taking to the comments, social media users were split over whether the mysterious wall-scrawling should be treated as vandalism or performance art, with some taking a decidedly lighter view.
One commenter dubbed the elusive author “Stanksy” — a pungent, unofficial cousin of Banksy — while another went a step further, hailing him a “legend”.
One person joked: “Police are going to have to sniff every yoga class in a kilometer radius.”
Another added: “Please track him down so I can commission him to do my house.”
“I have seen so many of these tags in east London,” said another.
“Happens to the best of us,” another person said.
