TWO motorbike riders at a motocross championship in Moray have been injured, with an air ambulance having to be called.
The two riders were injured while competing at the Scottish Motocross Championship in Elgin on Sunday.
Emergency services were called at the weekend and one of the injured riders was taken to hospital by air ambulance, according to the Press and Journal.
The condition of the riders is currently unknown.
Motorsport enthusiasts from around Scotland attended the championships at the Woodside motocross track in Elgin last weekend.
Organisers of the event thanked spectators for their patience and praised the response of the Scottish Ambulance Service crews following the injuries sustained by two participants during one of the adult races.
Rae Cameron, on behalf of the Scottish Motocross Championship, said in a statement: “The third round of the Scottish Motocross Championship was held today at the fabulous Woodside motocross track in Elgin.
“During one of the adult races there was an incident which resulted in two riders being injured.
“The Scottish Ambulance Service took the decision to transfer one of the riders to hospital via air ambulance.”
He added: “We would like to wish both riders a speedy recovery, and thank those who attended today’s event for their patience and finally the Ambulance Service for the professional support.”
Police Scotland said officers were not called to the incident.
