‘AC runs 24x7, 50-70% salary goes into loan’: Noida man questions metro life, says Rs 25,000 in village and Rs 1 lakh in city ‘is equal’

For many people, owning a luxury apartment in a metro city feels like the ultimate life goal. A high-rise flat, premium clubhouse, swimming pool, gym access and landscaped towers often become symbols of “making it” in life.

But a Noida resident’s viral Instagram video is now making many people question whether expensive city living is actually as comfortable as it looks online.

Puneet Jindal, who lives in a high-rise society in Noida, shared a video explaining why he believes crores-worth apartments still fail to provide peace of mind.

And the internet has a lot to say about it.

Why did the Noida resident call high-rise living ‘hell’?

In the viral clip, Jindal first showed the luxury amenities available inside his residential society, including a swimming pool, clubhouse, sports courts, yoga area, steam bath and sauna.

“I am sharing my experience. A flat worth crores has zero value, zero in my eyes,” he said in the video.

But after showcasing the facilities, he explained why daily life inside the apartment still felt uncomfortable to him.

According to Jindal, issues like poor ventilation, trapped cooking smells, bathroom odours and excessive heat from surrounding air conditioners had made apartment living stressful.

“My wife is tempering the food… and it has already spread now,” he said while explaining how smells travel quickly inside flats with open kitchen layouts.

He also described the atmosphere around the towers as suffocating.

“Everyone’s AC is running, brother. This whole place becomes a furnace. There is no such thing as fresh air here,” he added.

Is city life more stressful despite luxury housing?

The video also touched on another issue that resonated strongly online — the pressure of expensive urban lifestyles.

Jindal argued that many people spend decades paying EMIs for apartments while sacrificing peace, time and financial freedom in the process.

“A 20-year loan… from morning till evening, you have to do an 8, 10-hour job. 50, 60, 70% of your salary goes into the loan,” he said.

According to him, modern city living often traps people in a cycle where they work constantly just to maintain their lifestyle.

His comparison between village and city earnings quickly became one of the most discussed parts of the video.

“If you are earning ₹25,000 in a village and earning ₹1 lakh in a city, keep in mind, it is equal,” he said.
