2K Confirms 'WWE 2K27' Development, 'WWE 2K26' Official Shutdown Date

Take-Two Interactive has recently detailed their plans for the "WWE 2K" franchise, with the company already discussing with its shareholders that "WWE 2K27" is already under development.

The company also discussed what will happen to the recently released game, "WWE 2K26," which was also confirmed for its shutdown.

2K Confirms 'WWE 2K27' Development

According to an insider called SmackDown Hotel (via X), Take-Two Interactive discussed during its recent earnings call that 2K Games is already working on the development of the next installment of the franchise, "WWE 2K27."

The company also talked about the other developments coming in the future, including "NBA 2K27," "PGA Tour 2K27," "BioShock 4," and more.

Based on Take-Two's presentation, there are still no official release dates for "WWE 2K27," but it is expected to have the same release window as its predecessor, which was released earlier this year on March 12.

Since the franchise is maintaining an annual release cycle, GameRant speculated that it could be the same for "WWE 2K27."

The latest confirmation comes after its recently released "WWE 2K26" faced mixed reviews on OpenCritic as the game has a Top Critic Average of 80 and a 76 percent Critics Recommend score.

'WWE 2K26' Shutdown Dates Unveiled

Alongside this earnings call, 2K also updated their support page which details the official shutdown dates of "WWE 2K26's" Online Services on platforms like the PlayStation 5, PC, Switch 2, and Xbox Series S and X.

Based on the announcement, "WWE 2K26" will see a shutdown date of March 31, 2028.

This means that players only get two years to maximize what they paid for on "WWE 2K26" before it becomes disconnected from its online services, which means that it will no longer get new content, roster updates, and more.

According to the report, this is similar to "WWE 2K25's" shutdown date, which also saw a two-year timeline before online live services were no longer made available.

That said, players still have a lot to look forward to for "WWE 2 K26," especially with the Ringside Pass that will see constant updates through October 2026 featuring iconic wrestlers like Rey Mysterio and more.
