007 First Light sells 1.5 million copies in just 2 days

007 First Light.

Now that 007 First Light is finally here, developer and publisher IO Interactive is celebrating the long-awaited game's success – a success that spells over a million copies sold in just two days, that is.

If you've read our own 007 First Light review, then you know we consider it "Bond's greatest game to date" – and we're likely not alone in feeling that way. As per IO Interactive's latest online post, over 1.5 million copies of the new action game have already sold… and it's only been a couple of days, seeing as 007 First Light launched on May 27.

That's no small feat, and quite impressive, even when you line it up beside bigger AAA releases this year.

For reference, Crimson Desert managed five million sales or so in under a month, while the more recent Subnautica 2 hit four million copies sold in a week or so.

Looking back even further, Resident Evil Requiem's figure hit five million in days – all hefty numbers, and 007 First Light has just been available for two days, which means it could see similar sales, or perhaps even more. Only time will tell, but it's exciting nonetheless.

As IO Interactive writes, "Thank you for showing up to the launch of 007 First Light, for your overwhelming enthusiasm and for sharing your experience with the game." Comments see support from 007 First Light fans, with folks dubbing it an "amazing game" so far.

That checks out with the broader community's thoughts, too, with reviews over on Steam sitting at a solid "Very Positive" rating at the moment.

As for what's next for the new Bond game, IO Interactive rolled out its first minor patch just yesterday, and there's likely more to come in the future. Regardless, it seems it's safe to say that 007 First Light has had quite a good start.
