0.4 million new employees availed fiscal benefit under PMVBRY

The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), benefited 0.44 million first-time employees who entered the workforce in August 2025, when the government’s flagship employment incentive scheme was launched, and continued to be in job for six months, making both the employees and the employers eligible for fiscal incentives under the scheme.

The Centre has disbursed Rs 465 crore as incentives under the scheme for completion of six months of continuous employment for around 441,000 employees across 18,000 establishments, a senior government official told ET.

However, there are apprehensions that the pace of formal job creation could take a hit with the ongoing war in West Asia, putting the government's targets under stress as establishments put fresh hiring on hold.

The government had estimated creation of nearly 4.4 million formal jobs per quarter under the scheme on average to achieve the target of 35 million formal jobs to be created in two years.
